A Hike for Every
Weekend in April
Spring is here, and there's no better way to embrace it than hitting the trails. I've put together this little cheat sheet so you can have a hike β with different groups β every weekend in April. Hikes range from 2 miles to 8 miles, so it doesn't matter if you're a beginner hiker or an expert trail master: there's something for everyone.
Here are 8 Hikes in the DMV that you might want to check out.
Kick off the month with Destination Hike, heading to Woodland Lake in Seneca Creek State Park on Saturday the 4th. The route is about 6 miles. On Sunday the 5th, the Harbor East Run Club (HERC) takes things to Oregon Ridge Park for approximately 4 miles.
Saturday the 11th brings a collaboration between Goombay Adventurers and The Hike Crew at Rosaryville State Park for their fourth annual Water to Wine hike β a 3.5-mile march through the wooded park, followed by a wine down at Robin Hill Farm & Vineyards. On Sunday, We Trek2 tackles the legendary Billy Goat Trail along the Potomac. Fair warning: this is a strenuous trail, not recommended for hiking newbies.
The Trail Chasers will lead a backpacking-camping trip along the historic C & O Canal on Saturday the 18th β expect to travel at least 8 miles. Then on Sunday the 19th, join us, Let's Hike DMV, as we head out to the Turkey Run Potomac Heritage Trail. This 2-mile stroll along a scenic stretch hugging the Potomac River is perfect for newcomers and very beginner-friendly.
Close out the month on Saturday the 25th with the Honeydipped Hikers exploring Rock Creek Park, a classic urban escape right in D.C. On Sunday the 26th, Reinvent U Hiking wraps up April on the Torrey C. Brown Trail, a scenic rail trail stretching through Baltimore County.
