On December 14th, we hosted our first annual Holiday Party: Mistletoe & Mimosas—and let me tell you, pulling this off was nothing short of a Christmas miracle.

We didn’t even decide to have a party until December 2nd. Yes, you read that right. Twelve days to plan an end-of-year celebration for 40+ people. The first hurdle? Finding a date that worked for the entire party-planning committee.

• • Coconut has a bunch of kids and spends a lot of time slaying literal demons.

• • Lane runs a half marathon basically every other weekend and had to stay loyal to her training plan.

• • Tamara was out here busting windows out of cars and knocking dudes off their imaginary pedestals.

• • Kia was deeply committed to enjoying her birthday shenanigans, which lasted all month long.

Needless to say, we were all very busy— but also very dedicated to our Let's DMV family.

It turns out that, Sunday, December 14th was the only date that worked for everyone. The next big question became: How the heck were we going to pull off a party in 12 days? None of us really knew—but we were determined to make it happen.

Step One: A Theme

First things first: Every good party need a good theme. We landed on Sunday brunch, which honestly felt like the perfect vibe. Everyone loves breakfast food and brunch isn't really brunch without a mimosa to wash it down with. We added a little holiday flare, with the sprig of mistletoe. The theme was set – Mistletoe & Mimosas. 

The Dream Team at Work

Once the theme was set in stone, from there, everyone stepped into their roles like a well-oiled holiday machine.

Our Executive Chef, Kia (@KurlyGirlKia), immediately got to work crafting a brunch menu and a detailed ingredient list for what would become an absolutely spectacular spread. And yes—she single-handedly cooked all the food for all 40 guests. Iconic behavior.

Our Party Planner, Tamara (_aramaT), took Kia’s list and worked her spreadsheet magic—mapping out which stores we needed to hit for ingredients and decorations, and calculating the total cost. That number ultimately guided how we priced the tickets.

Our Community Organizer, Lane (@Laneknees), designed the flyer and managed all the ticket sales and finances.

Our Social Media Manager, Coconut (@CoconutsInTheBay), took to the interwebs, promoting the party and getting people excited. Selling tickets quickly was crucial—we needed that money before we could buy anything.

And somehow… we sold out all the tickets in just three days. Truly, holiday magic was on our side.

The Party

What we delivered exceeded everyone’s expectations.

There was:

• • A DIY decorating station for ornaments and ceramic Christmas trees

• • Personalized name tags and a Let’s DMV keepsake lanyard for every guest

• • A photo station with holiday props, Polaroids, and custom Let’s DMV Christmas cards

• • Interactive games that brought out everyone’s competitive side (fruit-by-the-foot challenges, musical candy canes, cup grab, and more)

• • Ugly sweater contest, even though everyone was dressed so cute

• • surprise gift raffle for anyone who arrived within the first hour

And then there was the real star of the show: The Food. 

Kia somehow made all of this happen on one stove (we’re absolutely getting her access to a commercial kitchen next time):

• • Turkey bacon & regular bacon
  • Eggs, grits, shrimp, salmon
  • Fried Chicken,
  •  hashbrown potatoes
  • Sausage links & kielbasa
  • French toast, a waffle station, yogurt bar
  • Muffins, cookies, fruit, salad, croissants
  • A Cutwater crate, rum rack, mimosa bar
  • Plus hot chocolate, cider, and mocktails for our sober guests {we are very inclusive 🙂 }

The Aftermath

People loved it. We heard nothing but rave reviews from attendees—and a whole lot of remorse and FOMO from those who missed out.

It was a ton of work—but even more of a reward. The party was more successful than any of us imagined.

If we can pull off something this spectacular in less than two weeks, just imagine what we can do with a full year to plan. Next year’s holiday party will be bigger, better, and even more magical.

So go ahead and mark your calendars now—tickets will likely drop mid-November 2026. We sold out in three days this year, and next year might be even faster.
